A Tribute To Veterans

In Vietnam, Korea and World Wars Past
Our Men Fought Bravely so Freedom Would Last
Conditions Where Not Always Best They Could Be
Fighting a Foe You Could Not Always See:

Heroes, it is said, are not born but are made.
Veterans become heroes by choice instead.
They choose to give freedom, but pay a dear price.
They pay with their blood, their tears, and often their life.

You Waited

With the heartaches, the worries, the pain and the fear.
Not knowing if you would ever see him again,
You stood bravely as he boarded his plane.
You held him close as you said your goodbyes,

MY SOLDIER CAME HOME FROM NAM

My soldier came home from Nam.
The memory of that hellish war still haunts him thirty years later.
The scenes of blood and gore still invade his mind.
He remembers seeing dead comrades in body bags.
He helped count the dead and load them onto the noisy choppers.
The sound of the choppers has never left his mind.
The smell of the dead has never left his senses.
